LODHRAN (12th February, 2018): The ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) is likely to pull off a stunning victory against the favourite PTI in the by-election of NA-154, Lodhran, unofficial results show.
According to results received from 130 polling stations so far, PML-N’s Pir Iqbal Shah has bagged 46, 204 votes, extending his overall lead by more than 14, 000 votes.
PTI candidate Ali Khan Tareen, who was being tipped to win the close contest, is trailing behind with 31, 132 votes. Tehrik-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah is third in the race with 4, 153 votes while PPP candidate Ali Mirza has secured 1, 456 votes.
TV footage showed PML-N workers celebrating their party’s likely victory against the formidable PTI. If PML-N manages to pulls off a victory, this can be described as a major upset given all the pundits were predicting a PTI’s win.
According to ECP officials, 45 percent registered voters exercised their right to vote in the National Assembly’s constituency.

Three hundreds and thirty eight polling stations has been established in the whole constituency (halqa). Second time the by election is being held on NA-154. Last time by election held on 23 December 2015after the disqualification of then MNA Mr. Siddiq Khan Baloch.
PPP has also fielded his candidate. He is son of former MNA Mr. Mirza Nasir Baig, Mirza Muhammad Ali Baig. The candidate of Tehreek e Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is Malik Azhar Ahmad Sandeela.
